Project Spotlight: Jack Daniel's Distillery Tasting Rooms

Recently, Kayla Thomas an Architect and Interior Designer at Anecdote, was interviewed by stikwood regarding the recently opened tasting rooms for Jack Daniel’s Distillery.

Born out of necessity, Jack Daniel’s sought out a design for six additional tasting rooms to balance the demand for their tour and tasting experience. The previous two tasting rooms in Barrel House 114, designed by Anecdote in 2016, will transition to private tasting spaces for elevated experiences. The new tasting rooms wrap the Motlow House courtyard and create an outdoor lawn for the buildings to share. On approach when taking the tour, guests are met with materials that reflect the Barrel House across the creek and a glimpse of the Motlow House beyond.

Guests are led under the covered walkway to one of the six tasting rooms that wrap the green space. In each tasting room a clean black and white aesthetic coordinates with the branding and graphics that cover the display walls. Black wood walls accentuate the gable forms and connect back to the barrel charring and charcoal mellowing that distinguish Tennessee whiskey from other spirits. The ceilings are visually supported by faux beams with brand specifi c central tension rings.
